In the first post of this four-part series, we covered email marketing provider Mailchimp. Today, we’re looking at Hotjar, a service that helps you understand exactly what people do when they arrive at your site after clicking on email links, social media posts, or search results.
What Are Heatmaps?
Heatmaps are a visual picture of how people engage with your deathcare site. They use colors to show how “hot” various parts of your site are—the “hotter” the area, the more people viewed, hovered over, or clicked on it. Heatmaps let you understand which buttons or links are getting used and which aren’t and whether people are scrolling down or interacting with various elements on your page. This information can help you design more user-friendly pages and ensure your CTA buttons are in high-traffic areas.
What Does Hotjar Provider?
Hotjar provides heatmaps collected from random views of your site. You set how many random views you want to collect data from to ensure you get a good statistical data set.
Hotjar business users can also get random recordings that show how users interacted with the site. This type of information can help you understand what parts of your site are working and why people might be bouncing.
The cost of this service depends on how much information you want to collect. You can get data from up to 2,000 page views per day plus 100 recordings for free with the Basic personal plan. Hotjar even stores that information for up to a year.
The personal Plus plan runs $39 a month and lets you capture data from up to 10,000 page views per day.
For most funeral homes, the free or Plus plan is going to cover it. But deathcare firms that manage multiple websites or have large traffic volumes can opt for Business plans, which are priced according to data collection goals. They start at $99.99 per month for collecting data from up to 20,000 page views per day.
