If you’re going to engage in funeral home marketing online, you’ll need some tools. In this four-part blog series, we cover some different types of tools you might want to consider. First up: Mailchimp, an email marketing service.
Email marketing drives one of the highest ROIs when it comes to online marketing tactics. On average, for every dollar spent, businesses get a return of $42. But you can’t engage in email marketing without a provider to help you manage subscriptions, campaigns, and compliance.
Mailchimp is a popular email marketing service. It’s easy to use, offers thorough reporting so you can understand how your campaigns are doing, and comes with a free plan that helps you get started.
What Can You Do with Mailchimp?
Mailchimp lets you create professional marketing emails and automate their delivery to the right audiences. You can integrate it with a number of other services, including content management systems, and it’s a strong system for running opt-in campaigns for lead generation. It can be a great choice if you want to build a subscriber base for your funeral home marketing newsletter.
Mail Chimp Costs
The free plan lets you manage up to 2,000 contacts within one target audience, and you can send up to 10,000 total emails monthly. You can run campaigns across seven marketing channels and have access to basic templates and survey builders. The free plan does have limited automations, but it’s still enough to support basic drip campaigns or newsletters.
The downside to Mailchimp is that once you enter the paid plans, how much the service costs each month depends on how many contacts you want to manage. And the price can get high pretty fast.
For example, the Essentials plan, which lets you send many more emails, manage multiple audiences, and offers additional automation and reporting tools, starts at $9.99 a month for 500 contacts. Jump to 2,500 contacts, and the price is $29.99 a month. If you get as high as 20,000 contacts, the cost is $159.00 a month.
This may not be a major concern for smaller funeral homes, which might only manage lists of a couple of thousand contacts at a time. But when you’re shopping for an email marketing platform, keep these types of costs in mind and consider how much you intend to grow in the future so you can find the most cost-effective option for you.
